The official medals of the Republic of Serbia have been awarded to Dina and Jovan Rajs, at the Serbian Embassy’s ceremony in Stockholm, on 29 March, 2022.

The Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Stockholm hosted a ceremony of awarding Dina Rajs and Jovan Rajs the „Orders of the Serbian Flag of the Third Degree“, based on the Decree of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on awarding these medals on the occasion of the Serbian Statehood Day on 15 February 2022, for special contribution of the Rajs family to preserving the culture of Holocaust remembrance.
In his welcome speech, Ambassador Dragan Momčilović emphasised that the medals were awarded to Dina and Jovan Rajs, as the members of the Jewish community in Serbia who survived the Holocaust and as well-known intellectuals in Sweden continuously contribute to preserving the culture of Holocaust remembrance and combating antisemitism. Thanks to their literary works and testimonies about personal experiences from the World War II, on the territory of former Yugoslavia, especially in Novi Sad and Belgrade,  present and future generations will cherish the memories of the suffering of Jews, Serbs and Roma, as well as remembrance of significant assistance from Serbian families provided for the Jews in order to save their lives during that period.
Dina and Jovan Rajs expressed their gratitude for the awards and pointed out that Serbia, during its history, had never shown antisemitism and Serbian people were the only ones in Europe who protected and saved Jews, including them, during World War II.
The reception at the Serbian Embassy was attended by the daughter, grandchildren, other relatives and friends of the Rajs family, Anja Jahn Gunther, in charge of Serbia in the EU Directorate at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Austrian Ambassador to Sweden Gudrun Graf and her husband, and the Serbian Embassy staff.
